The Birth of Koto World...
Koto World began in 2000, with Elizabeth's first release of musical stories, Plum Boy! and other tales from Japan. This very first CD received a 2000 Parents' Choice Gold Award as well as a NAPPA (National Parenting Publications Awards) Honors Award. Encouraged by the incrediblly positive feedback of her work, Elizabeth began to build her unique label, featuring stories told with warmth and humor and her own compositions, as well as collaborations with other outstanding musicians including Aiko Shimada, Mako, her son Brian and her husband John. Subsequent recordings have received multiple awards from Storytelling World and iParenting Media as well as from Parents' Choice and NAPPA - fifteen awards so far have been awarded to this one-woman label!! Koto World now offers 12 titles of stories, music, and lullabies - something for everybody.
